Black Sabbath were an English heavy metal band formed in Birmingham in 1968 by guitarist Tony Iommi, drummer Bill Ward, bassist Geezer Butler and vocalist Ozzy Osbourne.
They are often cited as pioneers of heavy metal music. They have sold over 70 million albums worldwide.[2]

After that it was shortened to Polka Tulk. They decided after that to name themselves Earth which Osbourne hated. They played blues-rock music. Tony Iommi had a work accident that cut off the tips of his middle and ring finger on his right hand.
He started tuning his guitar lower to make its strings looser. This made it easier for him to play the guitar.
